Karen Wenzel Scholarship Fund

Hello Friends!

C3 was initially established with the very able assistance of Karen Wenzel, the first C3 Coordinator. Karen worked very hard on behalf of people who live in the center city area of Binghamton and had many accomplishments to her credit. She was particularly concerned that so few students went on to pursue secondary education.

After Karen passed away in May 2005, we established the Karen Wenzel Scholarship Fund at Binghamton High School, to be awarded each year to an outstanding senior who lives in the center city area, has financial need, and has provided service to his/her community. This year, we are pleased to announce that our second Karen Wenzel Scholarship Award of $300 was made to Niko Scouvert to help with college expenses.

I wish to thank all of you who have shown sugh generosity in the past. I can not think of a more fitting way to honor Karen and what she contributed to this and other communities. The scholarship helps recognize young people who carry on Karen's tradition of caring about and dedicating herself to helping others.

Our goals for the scholarship are to increase the principle to the point of becoming perpetual and to increase the amount of funding we are able to award each year. You can help us reach these goals by making a tax deductible donation to the Karen Wenzel Scholarship Fund.

Let's make sure that the memories of Karen and her fine work continue through the scholarship that bears her name.

Thank you for your consideration
