“Women's International Agendas, 1840-2000”
We are developing a new digital archive focusing on the participation of women in international conferences and organizations, 1840 to 2000. The completed online archive will offer about 150,000 pages of printed and manuscript materials. We prepared a bibliography of potential primary sources in 2008, and will select and assemble the material to be scanned and indexed during 2009. The final product will be searchable by keywords and full text. Alexander Street Press, our co-publisher for the Women and Social Movements website, will release the first portion of the archive in spring 2010. The archive will be available to academic libraries by purchase or subscription and will be fully integrated into the other resources currently available on WASM.
This digital archive will offer unprecedented access to the study of women's participation in international politics and social movements, 1840-2000. The long time span will enhance research on international organizing efforts on behalf of women, international influences on feminism, and the place of women in international political activities.
If you would like to be kept apprised on developments for this project or to provide input as the work proceeds, please contact either of the two editors:
Kitty Sklar and Tom Dublin.
