CPIC is structured around independent research groups. These groups often articulate with each other and cross-pollinate as their work and membership overlap. Some research groups include research clusters which have their own integrity, but also act as a research group for certain purposes. There is cross-pollination among these clusters also. The groups collaborate in writing research grants, organizing conferences, bringing speakers. Some groups organize joint conversations. None of these groups is organized around a particular figure. The groups are highly collaborative in every respect, including in the design of the research agenda.
