Internship Opportunities

The Environmental Studies Committee strongly urges students to take part in an internship during their senior year of study, in coordination with their academic advisor and/or a member of the Environmental Studies Committee.  To meet this need, the Environmental Studies Program has established a variety of internship opportunities in the local community to allow students to use their academic training in a real world environment.  Internship opportunities commonly are available at these agencies:

- Broome County Environmental Management Council

- Broome County Department of Health

- Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County

- Broome County Soil and Water Conservation District

- Binghamton University Environmental Health and Safety

- Binghamton University Recylcing

- Waterman Conservation Education Center

- Finch Hollow Nature Center

- New York State Department of Environmental Conservation

- New York State Department of Transportation

Applications for most of these internships are done through Off Campus College’s Professional Internship program, particularly their Natural/Environmental Resources listings.

In addition, some students take internships in the summer, locally, in their hometown or County, with State or Federal agencies such as the National Park Service or Environmental Protection Agency, or with non-profit groups such as the SCA (see our Links page).
