Department Seminars typically feature invited speakers from other
universities who present recent research results. The audience is
assumed to be faculty and graduate students from a variety of subdisciplines
within Geological Sciences. Seminars are held Friday afternoons, 4:00-5:00 pm in Science 1, Room 162, unless otherwise noted.
The organizer of the Department Seminars is
Tim Lowenstein.
These are less formal presentations given by members of the department.
Typically in the Fall, faculty will present an overview of their current
research. In the Spring, graduate students are strongly encouraged
to give a 30-minute presentation, both as a "status report" on their
research projects, and simply for the experience of public speaking.
All of these seminars are held Wednesdays at noon in
Science 1, Room 162.
Wednesday noon seminars are being organized by Alan Jones.
