Graduate Certificate Programs The History Department offers two graduate certificate programs that contribute to the professional development of practicing teachers and the training of prospective teachers. The programs aim to provide middle and high school teachers with content knowledge and the latest interpretations of the subject matter in their teaching specialties. These courses may be taken on their own or as part of work toward a graduate degree. In either event they will enable teachers to engage the fundamental secondary and primary works related to subject matter of key required high school courses in Global History and United States History. Moreover, participants in the program will be encouraged to apply the lessons found in recent scholarship to their own classroom needs. We are confident that teachers and students alike will benefit from the stimulating courses that will be part of these two programs.
