UNYWHO Conference

The Upstate New York Women’s History Organization, in collaboration with the Journal of Women’s History, is pleased to announce its upcoming conference to be held on Saturday 21 April 2012 on the Binghamton University Campus, Binghamton, NY.

The conference will feature a keynote address by Susanne Klausen, associate professor of History at Carleton University, Ottawa. Professor Klausen researches the interconnections between reproduction and class, gender, racism, sexuality, whiteness, and nationalism in twenties-century South Africa. She is the author of Race, Maternity, and the Politics of Birth Control in South Africa, 1910-39 (Palgrave, 2004) and has published work in numerous journals. She is also the winner of the 2011 best article prize of the Journal of Women’s History.

Participants’ panel presentations will take place all day on Saturday. The presentations are on topics around the world and themes include women’s activism, women and colonialism, sexuality and the state.
